hello, little teacher II

**Update to one of my personally favorite posts from 2011,
as the lessons from this little teacher continue to deepen ....

The American primitive painter Albert Pinkham Ryder (1847-1917) reported watching an inch-worm crawl up a twig and then, clinging to the very end, revolve in the air, feeling for something to reach. “That’s me,” he said, “I am trying to find something out there beyond the place on which I have a footing.”
- Robert Genn

As I was waking up with my unsettled, loose-end'ish feeling self and starting the day today, I was sitting at this desk when I noticed this tiny little worm.

I noticed as s/he/'it' moved along that at times the surface of the desk seemed slippery and it
struggled for traction.
Sometimes the cracks made it turn and
go another way.
Sometimes it would topple over and get back up.
It went over the cracks, down the tiers of the edge of the desk and back up again several times.

What is going on here?
I curiously wondered.

walkabout

helloooooo...

this pic is inspired by a talk I recently heard from Pema Chödrön
where she gave the image of intense emotion as the water raging in a river.

becoming swept along *in* the water is a form of distraction,

while observing the water (emotion) from the riverbank
actually allows us to connect and *be with* it.

many of us are conditioned to believe it's the other way 'round.
as if we're not truly feeling an emotion if its intensity doesn't envelop our whole being.

we are human, we slip into the river from time to time
and get bounced around on the river rocks.
in simply becoming aware of this
we see that we have the choice to come ashore
and in doing so, allow ourselves
to also see and possibly release whatever is drawing or holding us in the water,
be it fear of the emotion itself, guilt, unhealthy habit, beliefs, etc.,
and see the whole of the situation more fully and compassionately.
(my interpretation)

a wish for us all.

in and out.

oh, for goodness sake...

if we're going to smile, how about trying it like this!

I smile like a flower not only with my lips

but with my whole being.

'act as if', or
'fake it til you become it'
approach could come in handy here

Never Eat Soggy Waffles

north
east
south
west

this cute little acronym speaks to me
in a directional and a food-related sense today...

I have heeded a tenacious call to study
holistic nutrition.
how not only the what, but
how.when.why.where, etc.
we nourish ourselves with
affects us overall
in body, spirit, mind, and
creativity.

the hitch in my giddyup has been simply coming to terms with the unknown nature of what to 'do' with such information once I invest in obtaining it; yet this is the next step in the natural progression of my journey toward healthifying my own relationship with how I
nourish my self on all levels.
i am and will allways be my first and a lifelong client.
food is a passion. and my connection to all things in nature, including my fellow human beings.
now I feel the time is showing itself to enter the marketplace, so to speak.
with open hands.
and a play-in-progress 'tude.

direct the mind, drive the hind...

drive the hind, and the mind will follow...
yee-haw!

(isn't she lovely? a dear friend sent this to me recently, it's an 8x10 that will soon be framed and displayed on the wall.)

Are you curious about exploring the role nutrition plays in your own life and health? Find the food industry a bit overwhelming and want some help sifting through the information to make well-informed, conscious choices? Do you deal with a particular condition or dis-ease that you would like to treat holistically, or in a way that works with a western medicine approach? Do you simply have the sense that you could be feeling better than you do, or that you could use some support in obtaining a greater state of vitality through individualized diet/lifestyle/cleansing suggestions?

I will be seeking people for case studies.
Would you like to be a volunteer client?
Through opening up about your health (your personal identity shared only as initials or a substitute name), I am excited to see what we can learn together, and hopefully you will walk away with a new lease on life.
Or at the very least the inspiration to whip up some hearty un-soggy waffles.

Let medicine be thy food,
and food be thy medicine.

Music is a lady that I still love because she gives me the air that I breathe. We need all sorts of nourishment. And music satisfies and nourishes the hunger within ourselves for connection and harmony.
~Cat Stevens

Sometimes you struggle so hard to feed your family one way, you forget to feed them the other way, with spiritual nourishment. Everybody needs that.

a fine mesh...

The key
to sprouting yummy seeds at home.
It's super easy...
They're like a garden in a jar,
in the middle of winter.
Watching them grow is fun for the
whole family!

good drainage doesn't have to be fancy...

after just a few days, voilà!
(this is the sandwich booster blend)

a short, helpful little tutorial
from Mumm's...
my seed source of choice.

Give it a try!
And if you are a sprouter,
do tell...
what are your fave(s)?
